Why Order from Outside Colorado?
Colorado has pouch converters of its own. Here’s when we’re the better call, and when we’re not.
Worth talking to us
Production runs at gravure quality
Our minimum is 5,000 per design, and per-bag pricing drops again at 10,000 and 25,000.
- Brands scaling past short digital runs into repeat production
- Anyone whose artwork needs 9-color rotogravure, Pantone matching or gradients
- Buyers comparing quotes — some Colorado converters start at 10,000
- Shipping to your Colorado address is included in the quote
Maybe not us
Very short runs and fast turns
If you need a few hundred bags, or printed film inside two or three weeks, a local digital converter will serve you better than we will.
- Test batches and one-off runs under 5,000
- Anything needed in less than 4–6 weeks
We’d rather say so up front. When your volumes grow, or your per-bag cost stops working, that’s the moment to get a quote from us.
Where the bags are printed: by our partner plants in Asia. We’re a California company and we carry that whole leg for you. When you compare us against a local short-run quote, compare the delivered numbers: ours already includes ocean freight, duties and the truck to your dock.
Bags for the Colorado Shelf
Every bag below is one we printed.
Bars, granola & better-for-you
Natural & Organic Snacks
The Boulder and Longmont cluster sells into national natural grocery, where shelf presentation and clean recyclable claims both get scrutinized. Matte films and mono-material structures are the usual ask.
We usually recommend
Stand-up pouch, matte finish, recyclable structure where the shelf life allows
Front Range roasters
Coffee & Tea
A one-way degassing valve lets roasting gas escape without letting air in. At Denver’s altitude that also keeps sealed bags from ballooning on the shelf.
We usually recommend
Flat bottom or side gusset bag with valve and pull tab zipper
Jerky, sticks & charcuterie
Meat Snacks
Jerky needs a high oxygen and moisture barrier and often room for an oxygen absorber. Colorado has no state meat inspection program, so your label goes through USDA review before it prints.
We usually recommend
Metallized or foil stand-up pouch with zipper
Creameries & dairy
Cheese & Dairy
Colorado runs everything from farmstead creameries to some of the largest mozzarella production in the country. Barrier film and a seal that survives cold-chain handling matter more than anything decorative.
We usually recommend
High-barrier rollstock film or lay flat pouch
Treats, chews & raw
Pet Treats & Pet Food
Colorado registers pet food labels and approves them before sale, with hard layout rules: net weight in the bottom 30% of the front panel and the guaranteed analysis in a fixed order. Get that into the die line early.
We usually recommend
Stand-up pouch with window, zipper and hang hole
Powders, blends & wellness
Supplements & Powders
Fine powders clog ordinary zippers and pick up moisture fast. Panel space is tight too, because supplement facts and claims eat the back of the bag before your brand gets a look in.
We usually recommend
Stand-up pouch with hook-and-loop zipper and high moisture barrier
Where Colorado’s Brands Are Made
Four clusters, each buying different packaging.

Boulder County
Boulder & Longmont
One of the country’s densest natural and organic food clusters. Boulder Organic in Niwot and Cheese Importers in Longmont sit alongside dozens of snack and better-for-you brands selling into national natural grocery.

Denver metro
Denver, Aurora & Littleton
The state’s distribution center and where most new brands launch: candy makers like Hammond’s, coffee roasters, and pet brands such as Pet Releaf in Littleton.

Northern Colorado
Fort Collins & Greeley
Dairy, cheese and meat country. MouCo Cheese makes soft-ripened cheese in Fort Collins, and the Greeley corridor handles beef and dairy at industrial scale.

Western Slope & south
Palisade, Monte Vista & Pueblo
Fruit, potatoes and chile. Talbott Farms grows and packs in Palisade, Farm Fresh Direct ships San Luis Valley potatoes from Monte Vista, and Pueblo chile drives a short, intense packing season.
Companies named above are examples of Colorado producers, not Hawk customers. The Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation counted roughly 2,200 food and beverage companies employing about 44,500 people across the Front Range in 2024.
Printing the Colorado Proud Logo
Free to join, and the logo is allowed on packaging — with rules worth reading first.
It costs nothing
The Colorado Department of Agriculture has run the program since 1999 and states there is no cost to participate. Members can use the logo on product packaging under the published guidelines, without submitting each design first.
Using it unauthorized is now unlawful
A 2026 state law made it a deceptive trade practice to call a product Colorado-grown when it isn’t, or to use the Colorado Proud designation or logo without the Department’s authorization. Join first, print second.
The colors are specified
The guidelines set the logo in PMS 200C red, PMS 2748C blue and PMS 109C yellow, with single-color use allowed in black or a color matching your packaging. Send us your member artwork and we’ll match those on press.
Program details come from the Colorado Department of Agriculture and coloradoproud.com. Confirm your eligibility and current logo guidelines with them before printing.
What a Mile of Altitude Does to a Pouch
Colorado is the highest state in the country, and packaging notices. We plan for it when we spec your bag.
Denver starts at 5,280 feet
Sealed bags puff at altitude and flatten at sea level. If you fill on the Front Range and sell in Chicago, or the reverse, headspace and valve choice decide whether the bag looks right on the shelf.
Very dry air
Low humidity is hard on paper-based structures and makes static a nuisance on fill lines. It also dries powders and baked goods faster once a seal is broken, so the reclose matters.
Strong sun, big swings
High-altitude sun and daily temperature swings age chocolate, fats and oils. Barrier films and opaque structures buy back shelf life.
Room for required panels
Identity, net weight, ingredients and allergens are the start. Pet food adds a guaranteed analysis and a fixed position for net weight. We lay it out before you print.
Built for altitudeOrdering Around Colorado’s Seasons
Standard orders take 8–10 weeks from approved artwork.
Pet or feed product? Colorado approves those labels before sale, so start artwork earlier than you think.

What Will a Run of Bags Cost?
Price per bag depends on style, size, material, print colors and features like zippers or valves. Shipping to Colorado is included, there are no plate fees, and we quote several quantity levels so you can compare against a local short-run price.
No plate fees. When you compare us against a short-run quote, remember to check whether theirs carries a separate setup or tooling charge — ours doesn’t.

What Colorado Brands Ask Us
Minimums, timing, shipping and labels.
Not sure what bag you need?
Tell us what you’re packing and how it sells, and we’ll recommend a style, size and material.
There are pouch converters in Colorado. Why use you?
Volume and print method. We print rotogravure in up to 9 colors with a 5,000 minimum per design, and the per-bag price drops again at 10,000 and 25,000 — some Colorado converters start at 10,000. If you need a few hundred bags or a two-week turnaround, a local digital converter is genuinely the better choice, and we’ll tell you that.
Do you have a location in Colorado?
No. We work with Colorado brands by phone and email and ship finished bags straight to you. Shipping is included, so there’s no extra freight cost for being in Colorado.
What is your minimum order?
5,000 bags per design (SKU). Each flavor or size counts as its own design. Pricing improves at 10,000 and 25,000.
How long does it take to get bags to Colorado?
8–10 weeks from approved artwork to delivery at your door, shipping included. You can expedite part of your order to arrive in 4–6 weeks.
I sell under the Cottage Foods Act. Do I need printed packaging?
Usually not yet. Colorado’s Cottage Foods Act covers direct sales to the end consumer. The moment you sell wholesale, through a retailer, or outside Colorado, you need a licensed facility and compliant printed packaging — that’s the point most brands come to us.
What about jerky and meat snack labels?
Colorado doesn’t run its own meat inspection program, so meat and poultry products fall under USDA inspection and USDA reviews the label before use. Build that approval into your schedule, then send us the approved artwork.
Do pet treats need anything extra in Colorado?
Yes. Pet food and treat labels are registered with the Department of Agriculture and approved before sale, with annual company and per-label fees. The layout rules are specific too: the net weight statement belongs in the bottom 30% of the front panel, and the guaranteed analysis runs in a set order. We build those into the die line so nothing has to be redrawn later.
Can you print the Colorado Proud logo on my bag?
Yes, once you’re a member. The program is free, and the state’s guidelines allow the logo on product packaging without submitting each design, provided you follow them. Send us your member artwork and we’ll match the specified Pantone colors on press.
Are there plate or setup fees?
No. Worth checking when you compare quotes: short-run and digital printers often list a separate setup or tooling charge, and some converters bill plates per color. We don’t — it’s in the per-bag price.
Are the bags made domestically?
No. They’re printed by our partner plants in Asia, and we’re the California company that handles everything between the press and your dock. Worth knowing when you compare a local short-run quote against ours, because ours is the delivered price.
