Salt Lake County Makes Candy at Three Times the National Rate
Non-chocolate candy employment in Salt Lake County is 3.16 times the national concentration: 7 plants and 435 jobs, over half of Utah’s total (BLS, 2024).
Sweet Candy Company
In Salt Lake City since 1900, making more than 250 candies at a 180,000 square foot plant near the airport.
Taffy Town
Making taffy in West Jordan since 1916, in more than 90 flavors.
What candy needs from a bag
Stand-up pouches, lay-flat bags or rollstock for a wrapping line — and a design per flavor, with no plate fees.
Built for Salt Lake’s Food Storage Brands
Utah’s dried and dehydrated food industry runs at nearly three times the national concentration, and six of the state’s 11 plants are in Salt Lake County (BLS, 2024).
ReadyWise
Founded in Salt Lake City in 2008. Seals meals in multilayer metallized pouches with oxygen absorbers and nitrogen flushing.
Augason Farms
Started in Salt Lake City in 1972, packaging foods for a 25 to 30 year shelf life.
What that takes
Foil or metallized barrier film, seals that hold a low-oxygen headspace, and a pouch that survives years in a basement.
Companies named are examples of what Salt Lake makes, not Hawk customers.
Growing a Salt Lake Food Brand
Utah’s homemade food law allows only in-person sales to the end buyer, with a “Not for Resale” label. Selling to stores is where printed bags come in.
Spice Kitchen Incubator
Run by the IRC and Salt Lake County, with affordable commercial kitchen space and launch support.
Downtown Farmers Market
Pioneer Park since 1992, with 250 to 300 vendors, the place to prove demand.
Store shelves
Printed pouches at 5,000 per design, once a retailer says yes.

What Will Your Bags Cost?
Price per bag depends on style, size, material and colors. Delivery to Salt Lake is included, with no plate fees.
No plate fees matters on a candy line, where every flavor is its own design: a nine-color design runs over $1,300 in cylinders at a converter who bills for them.
What Salt Lake Brands Ask Us
Do you have a location in Salt Lake City?
No. We’re a California company in Sunnyvale. We deliver to any dock in the Salt Lake Valley with freight in the per-bag price.
Do you help with packaging design?
Yes. Design support and dielines come with your order, and we check your artwork before printing. For a brand built from scratch, we work alongside your designer.
Are there plate or setup fees?
No. Converters who bill for cylinders commonly charge around $150 per color. Ours is inside the per-bag price, including on revisions.
Where are the bags made?
By our partner plants in Asia. Freight, customs and delivery to your dock are in the price, and the 8 to 10 week lead time includes transit.
