The local market

What Georgia Grows and Makes

Georgia has 71,659 food manufacturing jobs, sixth among states and about 29% above the national concentration (BLS, 2024).

Half of America’s peanuts

Georgia grew about half of all US peanuts in 2024, 3.21 billion pounds. Roasting nuts and making peanut butter runs at 1.7 times the national rate.

#1 in pecans

Georgia led the country in pecans in 2024, with 102 million of 265 million pounds. Non-chocolate candy runs at nearly twice the national rate.

Snacks and pet food

Snack food runs 44% above the national rate, and pet food jobs grew 10% in a year.

And a surprise for the Peach State: Georgia was only third in peaches in 2024, behind California and South Carolina. Employment figures are the federal 2024 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages; crops are USDA.

Built for Georgia

Georgia’s New Cottage Food Law Opens Store Shelves

Since July 1, 2025, House Bill 398 lets Georgia home producers sell to grocery stores and restaurants, online and by mail, with no state license or fee.

What changed

Cottage producers used to sell direct only. Now their products can sit on a store shelf, and the foods allowed are pouch foods: nuts, trail mix, granola, roasted coffee, seasonings, candy and popcorn.

The label must carry a statement, in at least 10-point type, that the product was made at a residence exempt from state inspection and may contain allergens. Online sellers must show it on the web page too. Interstate sales still follow federal rules.

Why it matters for your bag

A shelf changes the standard. A hand-labeled bag works at a market. Next to national brands in a grocery store, a printed pouch is what gets picked up.

Print the statement in the film. The required wording lives on every bag, correct and legible, with no stickers.

Volume follows the shelf. Once a store reorders, 5,000 bags of your best seller goes fast. With no plate fees, each flavor costs you no tooling.

We’re a packaging supplier, not a regulator, and nothing here is legal advice. Confirm the current label wording with the Georgia Department of Agriculture before you print.

Climate

What Georgia Humidity Does to Nuts and Snacks

Pecans, peanuts and granola go soft and stale when moisture and heat get in.

Muggy mornings

July humidity at 7am runs 88% to 91% across Georgia’s cities. Savannah’s July dew point averages about 71 °F, Atlanta’s about 68 °F.

Oils go stale in heat

Nuts are high in oil, and heat speeds up the oxidation that makes them taste stale. A good oxygen barrier slows it.

What the bag needs

A metallized or foil laminate keeps nuts and snacks fresh far longer than clear film. A small window keeps product visible.

Do you have a location in Georgia?

No. We’re a California company based in Sunnyvale, and our bags are printed by partner plants in Asia. We deliver to any address in Georgia with freight included in the per-bag price.

What is your minimum order?

5,000 bags per design. Each flavor and each size is its own design, so a three-flavor pecan launch is 15,000 bags. Pricing improves at 10,000 and 25,000.

Can Georgia cottage food producers sell to stores now?

Yes. Since July 1, 2025, House Bill 398 lets cottage producers sell to grocery stores and restaurants, online and by mail, with no state license. Labels need a statement that the product was made at a residence exempt from state inspection. Confirm current rules with the Georgia Department of Agriculture; this isn’t legal advice.

Can you print the Georgia Grown logo on my bags?

Yes, once you’re a member; only members can use it. Membership starts at $100 for businesses under $100,000 in sales. Send approved logo artwork before we engrave, and we’ll print it Pantone-matched.

Do you charge plate or cylinder fees?

No. Converters who bill for cylinders commonly charge around $150 per color, so a nine-color design can carry over $1,300 of tooling before a bag is printed. Ours is inside the per-bag price, on every flavor.

Are the bags made in the USA?

No. They are printed by our partner plants in Asia. Ocean freight, customs and delivery to your Georgia dock are inside the per-bag price, and the 8 to 10 week lead time already includes transit.
