Launching in America’s Test Market
Chains like Wendy’s test new products here because Columbus shoppers mirror the country. A Columbus launch is a preview of a national one.
Design for the rollout
The bag that wins at a Columbus farmers market gets judged next to national brands on a grocery shelf. Gravure printing holds that shelf from the first run.
Expect artwork to change
A test brings feedback: a new name, a bigger claim, a different window. We charge no plate fees, so a revision costs no tooling.
Size the first order honestly
Our minimum is 5,000 per design. Too many for one store; usually right for a regional launch across several.
What Columbus Food Makers Put in Bags
The region has 277 food and beverage plants (One Columbus). The shelf-stable ones are where printed pouches live.
Buckeyes and nuts
Anthony-Thomas makes about 60,000 pounds of chocolate a day; Krema Nut has roasted nuts on Goodale since 1898.
Coffee
Crimson Cup roasts over 500,000 pounds a year, and Stauf’s has roasted in Grandview since 1988.
Pantry and cookies
Marzetti is headquartered in Westerville, and Cheryl’s Cookies bakes for gift tins and wholesale.
Companies named are examples of what Columbus makes, not Hawk customers.
Where Columbus Food Startups Grow Up
Start with stock bags and a label. Switch to printed bags at your first wholesale account, when volume reaches 5,000 per design.
ECDI Food Fort
Rentable commercial kitchens and storage, the usual first step out of a home kitchen.
Ohio State’s food pilot plant
The Gould Food Industries Center helps with nutrition labeling, worth doing before a panel is printed into film.
North Market & Worthington
North Market dates to 1876; Worthington is central Ohio’s largest farmers market, at about 120 vendors.

What Will Your Bags Cost?
Price per bag depends on style, size, material and colors. Delivery to Columbus is included, with no plate fees.
No plate fees matters most after a test launch: a nine-color revision runs over $1,300 in new cylinders at a converter who bills for them.
What Columbus Brands Ask Us
Do you have a location in Columbus?
No. We’re a California company in Sunnyvale. We deliver to any Columbus-area dock with freight in the per-bag price.
We’re testing a product in Columbus. Is 5,000 too many?
For one store, yes, and stock bags with a label are better. For a regional launch across several stores, 5,000 per flavor is usually about right.
Are there plate or setup fees?
No. Converters who bill for cylinders commonly charge around $150 per color. Ours is inside the per-bag price, including on revisions.
Where are the bags made?
By our partner plants in Asia. Freight, customs and delivery to your dock are in the price, and the 8 to 10 week lead time includes transit.
